Last night Atlanta bid farewell to the WORLD CUP⚽️ Last night Atlanta bid farewell to the WORLD CUP⚽️. 
I'm going to miss how it transformed our city into a 6 week party. Watch parties everywhere, free concerts, community events and celebration vibes everywhere. I wish we could have gotten out more. But really proud of how our city showed the world what we could do!

If your little readers have caught soccer fever keep the party going after Sunday's final with these books for every age group.

Read across America with Black Middle Grade Books Read across America with Black Middle Grade Books (Part 1)  is the summer sidequest that made me constantly ask myself "why are you doing this..." and the answer is: because I wanted a challenge🤷🏾‍♀️ aka I was bored🤪

I had already created a diverse read across america list that I'll link in my stories but I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could do middle grades, SPECIFICALLY Black protagonist and Black author books and the answer is NO. 

✊🏾There were some states that completely lacking but to my knowledge these books are written by Black authors and feature Black protagonists with the exception of Home of the Brave by Katherine Applegate

⏳️This took me more than a minute to research but I am confident that there is enough to add to everyone's reading list for the forseable future.

If we want our kids to grow up in a world where ev If we want our kids to grow up in a world where everyone feels seen, valued, and safe to be exactly who they are, it starts with the stories we read at bedtime or dont exclude from our shelves. 

These incredible picture books don't just celebrate Pride Month 🌈 they celebrate the universal truth that love, family, and community come in so many beautiful forms.

My attitude towards this summer is that of a drunk My attitude towards this summer is that of a drunk flying squirrel.  Just waking up and leaping throwing the day with blind faith hoping we land safely at bedtime with everyone relatively fed and sane.
