When my husband said we were going on a mini Black bookstore crawl for my birthday yesterday I was so excited. Doing a bookstore crawl has definitely been on my bucket list.

I missed the big all day crawl earlier this year but I am definitely putting it on my list for next year.

Thank you to @44thand3rdbookseller and @lovevillagebooks for being so warm, welcoming and providing great customer service. I will be back!

It made me think of Chloe Vega, what having a book like this would mean to those kids, and how representation, that feeling of being seen, heard and understood is so universal.

Fall Picture books on your shelves have all the leaves, pumpkins and squirrel nuttines so common this time of year but do they also have books that represent the readers in your household or classroom?

This becomes increasingly harder to do the older kids get. So make sure to let kids seem themselves frolicking in leaves, and picking pumpkins and living their best cozy lives early on.
